ظهرت بداية في شمال إفريقيا وجنوب شرق آسيا ،حيث أنها تنمو في المناطق الاستوائية وشبه الاستوائية لحاجتها للحرارة .
الجزء المستخدم منها هو سبلات الأزهار التي تحتوي على الجلوكوسيات،مواد ملونة ،أملاح الكالسيوم والفيتامينات .
ويمكن الاستفادة من الكركديه في خسارة الوزن، وكذلك لأغراض طبيّة و تجميليّة، إضافة إلى استخدامه في بعض الأطعمة .

- يثبط الكركديه من إنتاج الأميليز الذي يساعد على امتصاص الكربوهيدرات،لذلك يمنع امتصاصها وتخزينها.

تحضير الكركديه للرجيم
يمكن تحضير الكركديه بأكثر من طريقة حيث يشرب ساخناً أو بارداً ويمكن إضافة شرائح الليمون للتخفيف من طعمه اللاذع.
يحضّر عصير الكركديه بنقع ملعقة صغيرة من الكركديه المجفّف في3/4كوب من الماء المغلي لمدة 10 دقائق ثم تتمّ تصفيته .
كذلك يمكن استخدام شاي الكركديه الذي يحضّر من كأس الزهرة، بدلاً من المياه المستخدمة في إعداد العصائر كعصير الأناناس.
يمكن إعداد الكركديه مع الزنجبيل بإضافة 1/4 ملعقة من الزنجبيل وملعقة كبيرة من الكركديه المجفّف ثمّ يسكب عليها كوب ماء مغلي وتنقع لنصف ساعه ثمّ تصفّى.
ويفضّل شربه قبل تناول الوجبات الرئيسية، فيما تختلف كميذة الكركديه حسب عمر الشخص ووزنه.
فوائد عامّة للكركديه
بالإضافة إلى فائدته في الرجيم يمتلك العديد من الفوائد الأخرى منها
